About Fresh Breath Therapy

At Fresh Breath Therapy, we understand that everyone faces challenges with overwhelming emotions like sadness, anxiety, anger, or guilt. During these times, it can be difficult to communicate effectively and find healthy ways to cope. I’m here to guide you through these emotions and life’s difficulties, helping you build resilience and rediscover balance. I specialize in working with clients aged 10 and up, providing compassionate care tailored to individual needs.

Education

I earned my Master of Social Work from North Carolina State University in 2019. After completing the required clinical hours and supervision, I obtained my Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) certification in 2021.

Before transitioning to private practice, I served as an Intensive In-Home Lead Therapist, supporting at-risk youth and their families. Following this, I worked in a pediatrician’s office, where I provided integrated behavioral health care to patients, fostering collaboration between mental health and medical providers—a field I am passionate about.

Additionally, I have completed an intensive year-long training program to become a certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) provider. I integrate this evidence-based modality into my practice to help clients process trauma and overcome emotional barriers effectively.

Therapy Approach

When working with you, I create a safe, confidential, inclusive, and welcoming space where you can explore your feelings without fear of judgment. My approach is client-centered, focusing on your unique needs and goals. I utilize evidence-based practices, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To help identify and reframe negative thought patterns.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): To process trauma and reduce distress.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI): To empower and motivate you to make meaningful changes.
  • Eco-Systemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT): To address relational dynamics and strengthen family systems.

I also enjoy incorporating creative elements such as art, movement, and writing into sessions. These approaches provide additional avenues for self-expression and personal growth, helping you discover healthy and fulfilling ways to navigate life’s challenges.

When I am in not in the office I am spending time with my family and my two furry animals, Kevin and Flash. I love reading, eating breakfast pastries and being outdoors. I believe that as a therapist it is my job to meet you where you are at and that finding the right fit is the first step into making a positive change. I hope that I will be able to help instill a new sense of calm and understanding to you and your family’s life.
